Do not be a tourist in your own culture
A wall mural in the cafe that urges us to engage with our culture and histories in a more habitual way and not only as special or exceptional occasion. An encouragement to consider just how African our day to day existence is or rather isn't. We spend most our lives emulating and aspiring towards Eurocentric sensibilites. It's in what we wear, eat, farm, use as medicine, art, tech, music and on and on... Have a think about how you can incorporate your culture and heritage into more and more of your life today.
With that being said, there is no one universal way to experience and live as an African. Find your own way.
