The ant-lion is the predatory larval stage of a large family of insects common around the world. They set little funnel-shaped pits of loose soil to capture and trap wandering ants. You may have seen these little pits dotted across the landscape and I always imagine some mythical, cosmological level "life-lion" that comes for us all when it is time to cross the threshold to the other side. A companion to guide us through the uncertainty of what lives beyond death.
